A year ago EMC introduced the new entry level system of its VNX flagship platform, the VNXe3200. A unified storage system with enterprise features built for small and medium customers. One week ago the VNXe product line got extended by the introduction of the new VNXe1600, which brings almost the same functionality as its bigger brother down to even lower price levels.
For less than 7000 EUR you get a system that does not compromise with regard to VNX & VNXe features and technology and has been optimized in three specific focus areas.
…SIMPLE – the VNXe1600 is installed within minutes using the well-known and easy-to-use Unisphere management suite.
…EFFICIENT – the VNXe1600 provides up to 125 virtual machines (VMs) in 2 rack units. State of the art technologies, like thin provisioning and capacity efficient snapshots, are built in.
…AFFORDABLE – for the first time EMC enters a price segment which starts below 7000 EUR making the VNXe1600 especially attractive for SME customers as well as for remote office requirements.
The VNXe1600 is a hybrid block storage array with a capacity of up to 200 hard drives (SAS, NL-SAS) or Flash Drives. By utilizing „FAST Cache“ technology the onboard cache can be extended on demand without any disruption to boost application performance if needed.
Without any additional licenses data can be replicated between VNXe and VNXe or VNX systems.
