EMC hosted its second Mommy & Daddy at Work Event in Dubai on Thursday the 4th of September 2014. An initiative aimed at helping employees maintain a great work life balance while encouraging a spirit of camaraderie within the working environment.
Children from the EMC family were given chance to see where their parents work, who they work with and get a better sense of where their parents go when they say “to Work’. Conceptualized by EMC’s HR teams across the region, this initiative helps build community spirit and camaraderie between EMC’s employees while promoting a family and team spirit.
This year some of the activities included face painting, sand art, mug painting and a magic show for the children to enjoy. The day was full of beautiful innocent smiles that put a pause on the day to day business pressure. The memories of the days weren’t captured by the camera only, but with paintings, drawings and balloons in the shape of flowers here and there at the desks of EMC Mommys and Daddys.
Here are what the parents had to say about bringing their children to work:
Talent Acquisition Specialist Darine El Bizri who brought her three boys to the event said: “The event was awesome and the kids had a blast. It was also a great way for the EMC employees to catch up with their families and for the kids to know more about what we do. The team did a great job with this event.”
PR & Communications Manager Lana El Husseini who brought her daughter added: “The EMC Mommy & Daddy at Work day was an exciting, bonding fun initiative that brought the whole office to life. My daughter has always wanted to see my desk and what it is I do that keeps me away from home. She enjoyed the music, activities and the sweets too and thinks EMC is a Great Place to Work.”
RSA’s Hadi Zakhem who brought his twins mentioned that: “It was a great event where our twins had loads of fun. The activities were awesome everything from face painting to the photo booth and magician act! Thanks again to all who helped in making this day joyful and I would definitely bring them again next year.”
Zaher Hayder, Regional Systems Engineering Manager said: “My two daughters always ask me about the office and what I actually do during the long weekday hours. I answer them that I go to meetings, talk to people, conduct phone calls, respond to emails, and then go to more meetings! The ‘Mommy & Daddy at Work’ day helps making them a bit more familiar with this strange world called “the office” and it allows them to meet some of my colleagues. They are super excited about the activities and surely enjoy the fun and treats they get on top! This is definitely a great initiative to make EMC a greater place to work. Well done to the team behind it!”
District Manager, Ghassan Abboud, added: “The event was very nice and important for the kids to know where their dad spends the vast amounts of his time, and what he’s doing! Ok, you will have to answer a lot of questions afterwards but this is quite manageable after the office visit and the fun activities which were held there. My daughter remembers the event from last year, so I am afraid she is now expecting to the fun event every year after summer vacation.”
Channel and Alliances Director, Havier Haddad concluded by saying: “The kids felt proud of dad working at EMC, a cool company!”
